K9 Officer

The Hope Mills Police Department currently has one canine that is assigned and works on the Traffic Unit. This skilled officer and canine, “Ringo”, receives continuous training which allows them to assist patrol officers to find criminal suspects, search buildings and open areas, track suspects that have fled from a crime scene and locate any evidence that a suspect leaves behind.

Traffic Unit

It is the mission of the Hope Mills Police Traffic Unit to promote expeditious traffic flow that enhances traffic safety for all residents of, and visitors to, the Town of Hope Mills through vigorous enforcement of town and NC motor vehicular laws.

Duties & Services

The Traffic Unit's functions include:

  • Traffic law enforcement
  • Collision prevention and investigation
  • Impaired driver enforcement
  • Traffic control at special functions, parades, and for visiting dignitaries
  • Response to high priority patrol calls, when available
  • Community traffic complaint investigations
  • Community functions such as speaking to driver's education classes
  • Promoting the use of vehicle child restraints
  • Other traffic-related training
